How to Adjust the Middle Hinge of a Refrigerator Door
Top-mount refrigerators have three hinges to operate the doors. The hinges are stationary and require little adjustment. The center hinge of the refrigerator has two pins on which the doors swivel when opening and closing. If your refrigerator door is not sealing properly or the gap between the two doors is uneven, some adjustment might be necessary to the middle hinge. Adjusting the middle hinge of a refrigerator door does affect the adjustment of the freezer door. Does this Spark an idea?

Pry the plastic cap off the top hinge with a flat-head screwdriver. Loosen the two screws securing the top hinge to the top of the refrigerator with a socket wrench. Turn the screws counterclockwise no more than two complete revolutions.

Open the freezer door completely so you can access the mounting screws securing the middle hinge. Place a 4-foot level across the top of the refrigerator door.

Loosen the screws securing the middle hinge one complete revolution with a nut driver. Adjust the refrigerator door until it is level. Hold the door steady and tighten the middle hinge adjustment screws. Ensure that the pin on the center hinge is fully seated in the top of the refrigerator door as you are tightening screws.

Close the freezer door and ensure the gap between the bottom of the freezer door and top of the refrigerator door is even. Adjust the freezer door as necessary and tighten the screws securing the top hinge. Push the plastic cap back over the top hinge.

Tips & Warnings
If the refrigerator door still comes out of alignment, it is most likely due to a worn cam on the bottom hinge. Replace the cam to repair the refrigerator door.
