How to Remodel a Nursery Room
Create a nursery room that represents the joy that comes with bringing a new child into the world. Adorn the room with favored stuffed teddy bears, soft blankets and other baby accessories. Choose a theme or a color scheme for your baby boy or girl and dress up the walls with patterned wallpaper or paint with solid colors. If possible, designate an entire room for your infant, rather than having older siblings share a room with the baby. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Choose a theme for your child. Good themes for a boy are pond, truck, frog and turtle themes. You might want to choose a princess, Minnie Mouse or baby lamb theme for a girl. Neutral themes include general baby items like teddy bears and other stuffed toys.
-
2
Paint the walls in the nursery and leave the ceiling white. Choose colors that match the theme in your room. Green and blue walls work well for a pond or boy theme. Pink and purple walls complement a pony, princess or other girl theme. Neutral colors like tan or even blue work well for a teddy bear theme. Allow the paint to dry for two days before decorating the nursery.

It's worth it to spend money on a durable crib. Choose a crib and other furniture for the room. The type of crib you choose should blend with the overall theme of the room. Many wood stains work well with all sorts of decor for a boy or a girl. Dark cherry wood blends in with neutral earth-tone colors, but cherry can also contrast against a pastel purple or light pink wall. Cherry wood also works for a boy's room with light green or blue walls. Solid oak cribs tend to blend well with light colors as well. Only buy a crib that is durable and made according to recent safety standards. Avoid buying old cribs from garage sales or antique shops. Place the crib up against a wall, but away from a window. Buy solid-colored baby bedding that matches the colors in the room. You may also be able to find animal print or cartoon character print bedding for other themes.

Install one or two white shelves in the room for framed photos, toys and other baby keepsakes like antique baby shoes. Adorn the room with baskets filled with toys and stuffed animals. Stock your changing table with diapers, wipes and other baby essentials. Choose items that match the style and overall theme in your room.

Adorn the windows with curtains that match the theme of your choice. White curtains with black polka dots work well for a Minnie Mouse-themed baby room. Solid pink and purple curtains also blend well in a girl's room. Choose plaid or boy colors such as green, yellow or blue for a boy.

Tips & Warnings
Wash all new baby clothing and stock the closet full of outfits for your new child. Some new baby items have a chemical smell, so it's vital to wash fabrics so that laundry is clean and ready when baby arrives.
