How to Print Your Own Postage
Printing postage from your home or office is a fast and effective way of mailing letters and packages. It eliminates the need to drive to the post office and stand in line to buy stamps or ship a box. The United States Postal Service (USPS) provides official online printing services for mail sent within its system. It's easy, quick and can save you a lot of time and trouble.

1
Visit usps.com/onlinepostage. This page provides a link to the postal service's "Click-N-Ship" service which allows users to pay for and print postage directly from the USPS website. It also provides links to outside vendors that are authorized to sell postage.
-
2
Create a user account with your contact information on the Click-N-Ship page. Fill out your information completely to proceed to the next step, which covers the shipping label and postage information. This and the following steps can also be applied to non-USPS online postage services.

3
Enter the weight of your package. Use a postal or kitchen scale if you do not know the exact weight. If this is not possible and you do not want to go into a post office to have your package measured by a clerk, approximate the weight as best as you can.
-
4
Select your service and postage options. These determine the speed at which your package will arrive at its destination as well as the cost of shipping. Express mail is the fastest and most expensive option, whereas priority mail is less expensive and takes two to three days to arrive at its destination.
-
5
Confirm the information you have entered and the options you have selected, then proceed to the payment page. Here you can choose between paying directly with a credit card or using Bill Me Later, an online payment service. Enter the requested information, confirm your purchase and proceed to the printing page.
-
6
Preview your label before printing. Adobe software will be opened and your label will be available preview. If you do not have this software installed, you will be prompted to do so. Once you preview your label, select "Print" when prompted. Attach your successfully printed label to your package. It is now ready to be mailed.
