Frigidaire manufactures a variety of refrigerators in several finishes and sizes, including compact refrigerators for use in apartments, dorm rooms, bars or other small spaces. Most Frigidaire compact refrigerators are energy efficient and offer full width drawers and shelves, ice and water filtration and automatic freeze control. Available for purchase online or in appliance or department stores, the refrigerators should operate well with standard care and maintenance. However, if users experience problems with the unit, some troubleshooting steps may be useful.
Things You'll Need
- Baking soda
- Cleaning sponge
- Light bulb (if necessary)
Verify that the Frigidaire compact refrigerator is firmly connected to a working power supply if it is not working. Avoid plugging the unit into a ground fault circuit interrupt outlet (GFCI). A GFCI outlet will have a "Test" and "Reset" button. Reset the circuit breaker as needed.
Leave the refrigerator door shut for at least 4 hours if the motor is running too long. Wipe down the door seal with a damp cloth to ensure the door is closing completely.
Adjust the thermostat to a warmer setting if the motor is running excessively or food is too cold. Adjust the thermostat to a colder setting if the motor is running excessively or food is too warm. Keep the door shut for a prolonged period after large amounts of warm food are placed in the unit.
Create a cleaning mixture of warm water and a small amount of baking soda if the refrigerator smells bad. Remove food items and clean the interior of the refrigerator with the cleaning mixture and a cleaning sponge. Ensure that food is closed or sealed tightly before placing in the unit to avoid the transfer of food odors.
Replace the light bulb if the light is no longer working. Unplug the refrigerator and turn it off. Cover the old light bulb with a towel and unscrew to remove. Use the old light bulb as a guide to purchase a new light bulb, available at most grocery stores or hardware stores. Screw the new light bulb into the unit and restore power.
