How to Remove Mildew Smell From Dolls

Keep dolls clean and dry to avoid mildew smells.

Mildew grows in damp places with little ventilation. Old dolls or dolls that are stored incorrectly are likely to grow mildew or absorb a mildew smell. This smell can last a long time and can become a mold problem if it isn't remedied. Treating dolls properly can keep them looking and smelling their best.

• Laundry soap
• Mildew cleaner
• Sponge
• Baking soda
• Dish

Instructions

1. Wash the doll or the doll's clothes in the washing machine if possible. Read the label carefully and follow the instructions. Use cold water, a gentle detergent and the delicate cycle.

2. Use a non-bleach mildew cleaner on any of the hard surfaces, like vinyl, of the doll. Follow the products instructions and be sure to rinse thoroughly.

3. Place the doll in the direct sun. UV rays kill mold growth and the fresh air will help eliminate any mildew odors.

4. Store dolls in a well-ventilated area. If they are stored in a closet or drawer, add a dish of baking soda to absorb moisture and odor.
