How Do I Use SAP BIW?

The system landscape (SLD) directory for SAP is a directory that comprises all installable software for SAP, allows software monitoring for the system and provides analysis to plan software life cycle. It also provides information about all SAP components, software and hardware, including their version, installation date and purpose. The SLD communicates with users through HTTP (hypertext transfer protocol) and publishes information about components installed through SAP; if a component or software installed on the system has a new version available to install the SLD will allow users to keep their system updated with the latest software and components.

Instructions

1. Call the transaction code "SLDAPICUST." You can access this transaction by typing the code into the command line box at the bottom of the screen from any process in SAP.

2. Click on "Display" and choose the heading "Change" to switch to the "Change" mode of the SLD. Choose the heading entitled "Append Row."

3. Configure the HTTP parameters if necessary. "Alias name" can be changed to a string of text that identifies the HTTP connection, and the "Host name" or "Port" can also be changed to identify the SLD to the HTTP connection. In the field "User name" enter the user name of the person who logs onto the SLD, or the username for the password you wish to change.

4. Select the "Prim. indicator" option and choose the option "Password." Enter a password and select the green "tick" symbol to continue.

5. Choose the "floppy disc" symbol to save changes.
