The point-of-sale devices have used data input from swiped magnetic strips on cards.

Verifone products are often seen at check-out lines in supermarkets, or at point-of-sale locations where secure bank card processing needs to take place. Historically, the point-of-sale devices have used data input from swiped magnetic strips on cards, but increasingly, contact-less technology is being introduced where the card is placed in proximity of a sensor to be read. In both cases, printers are used to provide a transaction record. The record can be useful for the merchant and the customer, so often two copies are produced.

Instructions

Plug the printer into the power supply if the printer won't produce output when a transaction takes place. Often, the printer is separate from the magnetic stripe reader, so needs to be connected. Check for a wire between the two devices. If the Verifone printer is part of a portable combination reader/printer, check that the device is charged. Plug the reader/printer into the power supply for a few hours. The printer will not print if there isn't a sufficient charge.

Press any "Enter" or "On" buttons for at least three seconds, or until the power light illuminates on the printer if the device still won't work.

    • 3

Open the cover and check for paper in the printer if the lights illuminate, but the printer won't print. Install a new roll by dropping it into the cavity and making sure that the roll feeds from the bottom. Close the cover and try the transaction again.

Clear any paper jams by pulling the paper out in the direction it was traveling, and then try the transaction again.
