How to Sync a Tascam 2488 to a Video Camera

You often need an XLR cable to send out video signals to an outside audio recorder.

Although video cameras come with a built-in microphone you typically don't have many audio adjustment controls. This can cause problems if you are receiving feedback on the microphone, such as wind resistance and other peak signals. To improve your audio recording method, you can send the audio signal from the digital video camera to a Tascam audio recorder. This deck records the audio directly onto its built-in hard drive while giving you additional adjustment features, allowing you to record the best audio possible.

Things You'll Need

• 3.5mm cable/XLR cable

Instructions

1. Insert either a 3.5mm cable or a XLR cable into the "Audio Out" port on the video camera. A standard home video camera has a 3.5mm cable output while a professional video camera has an XLR connection port.

2. Connect the opposite end of the cable into the "Audio In" port on the Tascam 2488 audio recorder.

3. Power on the video camera and the Tascam 2488. The audio recorder automatically detects the connected video camera and displays the live audio feed.
