Each time a user looks at a page on the Internet, the information about the page is saved in the browsing history of the computer. Computer users concerned about their privacy may choose to delete the history after using the Internet. It is especially recommended for users to clear their browsing history when they finish using a public or shared computer.

      Open Internet Explorer.

      Click on the "Tools" button on the top right hand side of the window to expand the menu.

      Scroll down to the bottom of the menu and click on "Internet Options."

      Choose the "General" tab.

      Click on "Delete" underneath the Browsing History Section. A smaller screen will open up with several options.

      Check the box next to History and then delete. A message will pop up saying to "Please wait while the browsing history is deleted." When it is finished, the window will disappear and the history will be cleared.

  • Change Internet privacy settings to delete history after each day or Internet use to ensure that others can never see websites visited.
