Instructions

1
Roll a piece of cotton batting into a ball to create a head shape. Roll a smaller piece of cotton into a ball and place on the larger ball and glue in place. The smaller ball will become the nose.
-
2
Cut a piece of nylon pantyhose in a circle about an inch larger than the ball of cotton. Put the cotton ball at the center of the circle with the small ball facing down against the table or work surface. Pull the nylon taut and sew the edges of the circle together.

3
Turn the head over and pinch the small ball of cotton in your finger. With your other hand, push a needle through the back and to the side of the smaller ball. Wrap the thread around the small ball and then push needle and thread back through to the back of the head and knot. You have now created the nose.
-
4
Pull your needle through the head from the back again. Poke through to where you want the first eye to be. Thread a seed bead onto your needle and push the needle back through the head, sewing the bead eye into place. Repeat for the second eye and then secure with a knot.
-
5
Create a smile by pulling pink or red embroidery floss through the back to the front where the mouth would be located. You should be able to create a smile with just a few stitches.
-
6
Add hair. Wrap yarn around your fingers to the thickness you desire. Take a smaller length of yarn and tie it around the wrapped yarn between the pinkie and ring finger area. Cut both ends of the yarn, The side with the shorter hair will be the bangs and the longer side will cover the back of the fairy's head. If you have chosen to make a larger doll, modify the hair length accordingly.
-
7
Make the body of your fairy. Cut a piece of nylon four times the length of the head and twice as wide. Sew all sides but leave a 1-inch gap. Turn the nylon piece inside out (it will resemble a pillow) and stuff the nylon with cotton batting or cotton balls. Use the eraser end of a pencil to help you evenly distribute the stuffing. Sew up the remaining 1-inch gap. Sew head and body together with a few stitches.
-
8
Cut two equal lengths of yarn and sew on each side of the fairy's body. Tie a knot on the end to resemble a hand. Repeat this step to attach legs. Cut the leg yarn longer than the arm yarn pieces, as legs are longer than arms. You may attach a button or bead at the ends to represent feet, or simply tie a knot.
-
9
Clothe your fairy doll with scraps of fabric, silk flowers, ribbons or any other appealing, sparkly material you may have on hand. You can also create a pretty dress out of a paper coffee filter.
-
10
Mold craft wire into the shape of two wings. Use a heavy enough wire that it will not easily bend out of shape when covered with nylon, but light enough gauge that it looks appropriate with the size doll you are creating. Pull one foot of a pair of white nylon stockings taut over each wire wing shape. Sew the fabric together on one side of the wing. Excess fabric from both wings should be trimmed and then sewn to the back of the fairy doll.
-
11
To create a wand for your doll, dip one end of a toothpick in white craft glue. Wrap a ribbon around the length of the toothpick. Trim the excess ribbon and glue the end. Let dry before attaching a silk flower blossom to the end with glue. Attach wand to doll's arm with needle and thread.
-
12
Spray the doll, particularly the wings and wand, with hair spray and sprinkle with white sparkle.
