How to Strengthen Cheek Muscles


The condition of your cheek muscles can play an important part in your overall appearance and looks. Many people tend to have a negative outlook regarding the shape and size of their cheeks, especially as they get older. Cheeks can get chubby and loose with age and any dramatic change in weight. A number of exercises can be done to strengthen your cheek muscles, leaving them more toned and improving your overall appearance.

  • Breathe in deeply through your mouth to fill your mouth with air. Flex your left cheek inward, transfer the air to the right cheek and hold for five seconds. Transfer the air to the left cheek and hold for another five seconds. Move the air under your upper lip and hold for a further five seconds and finally to the space under your lower lip and hold for a final five seconds. Blow the air slowly out of your mouth. Repeat this process five or more times.

  • Suck both of your cheek muscles inward as if you are making a fish face. Hold this position for 10 seconds and breathe out. Repeat this process 10 times or more.

  • Take a deep breath and fill your mouth with air. Extract both cheek muscles out as far as possible so that you feel your cheek stretch. Hold this position for about five seconds and exhale. Rest five to 10 seconds and repeat. Repeat each repetition 10 or more times, with rests in between.

  • Pucker your lips together. Feel both cheeks become concave, with the skin tightening while doing so. Hold your lips in this puckering position for five seconds and release. Repeat this process several times to complete the exercise.
