How to Run a TeamSpeak Service

TeamSpeak is a voice chat computer program often used by gamers who play first-person shooter or multiplayer online role-playing games. The TeamSpeak chat program uses a server that all users connect to in order to talk to one another. You can set up your own personal server so you don't have to use a third-party TeamSpeak server.

Instructions

  1. TeamSpeak Licensing

    • 1

Go to Tritoncia.com and click "Register." This is TeamSpeak's website for commercial TeamSpeak licenses. You must have an account on this site prior to applying for a TeamSpeak commercial license. Click "Continue," "I Agree" and fill out the form to create your Tritoncia account.

    • 2

Navigate back to the main Tritoncia page and log in to your newly created account. Click "Licenses," "Buy NEW License" to access the application. The specific application you are looking for is labeled "TS3 ATHP Application." The fee for this application is $50.

    • 3

Sign electronically the Master License Agreement sent to the registered email on file. Scan your business license or business permit in either a JPG or GIF format. Send the scanned license to athps@tritoncia.com. If you have a fax machine at your business, you may also choose to fax it to 619-312-4145. Sole proprietors may substitute a government issued ID in lieu of the business license. This only applies to non-corporation businesses.

    Setting Up TeamSpeak Servers

    • 4

Download the TeamSpeak server software from Goteamspeak.com. Download the 32- or 64-bit server version of TeamSpeak 3. Click "I Agree." The choice between 32 or 64 is determined by your operating system. Use the 32-bit software on a 32-bit operating system, and 64-bit software on a 64-bit system. Double-click the downloaded file and extract its contents to a folder that's easy to remember.

    • 5

Double-click the file "ts3_server_win32.exe." If you have the 64-bit version, this file is labeled with "win64.exe" at the end. Write down the login name and password provided, as you need this to manage your server administrator account. Write down the token as well, if you are going to use remote server administration.

    • 6

Launch your TeamSpeak client software to configure your server. Click "Connections." Enter localhost or your specific IP for the server IP. Input "9987" in the port field. Click "Connect."

    • 7

Click "Permissions," "Use Token." Enter the token you copied earlier. Right-click in the server window and create channels, set permissions and use other TeamSpeak options to set up your server.
