How to Decorate a Strawberry Pinata
Strawberries are a fruit that is enjoyed throughout the year. During the summer and spring, they can be part of a refreshing strawberry daiquiri or milkshake. During the colder fall and winter months you might find them in pies or dipped in chocolate for an indulgent dessert. This gives you many opportunities to celebrate the strawberry on your menu. Make it even more exciting by using the strawberry as a pinata, releasing candy or other treats for your guests.

1
Cut small ovals out of cardboard to represent the seeds of the pinata. The size depends on the size of your strawberry pinata. For a small pinata that is only 18 to 24 inches from the top of the strawberry to the bottom, seeds should be about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch long. For larger pinatas that are 24 to 36 inches, the ovals can be 1 to 1 1/2 inches long.
-
2
Paint your strawberry pinata a red color using either spray paint or with a small brush. Allow the paint to dry before proceeding.

3
Glue the oval seeds onto the strawberry. Place them in columns that run from the top of the strawberry to the bottom, about 2 inches apart.
-
4
Cut three leaves out of green felt. Once again, an oval shape is good to use. Make the leaves between 6 and 9 inches long.
-
5
Glue the three leaves on the top of the strawberry, with each of the three leaves extending out at about 120 degrees from the previous one, so that the ends of the three leaves form a pinwheel pattern.

Tips & Warnings
When placing the leaves on the top of the strawberry pinata, leave enough space so candy can be emptied into the hole to fill the pinata.
Write a variety of recipes for dishes made with strawberries ranging from appetizers to entrees and beverages. Attach these to the bottom of the pinata with one end of the string attached to the strawberry and one to the recipe. Allow your guests to remove the recipes before the strawberry pinata is hit with a stick. These can give your guests ideas for how to cook with strawberries.
