How to Clean Lint From a Kenmore Stack Dryer

Ciele Edwards

When you hear your Kenmore dryer beep, you head to the machine with your laundry basket in tow, expecting to unload a pile of warm, fresh-smelling clothing. You do not want to open your dryer and be faced with a pile of damp clothing items that require another drying cycle. If your Kenmore stack dryer is not drying your garments properly, excess lint in the lint trap may be to blame. Emptying your dryer’s lint trap regularly not only ensures that your clothes dry faster, but prevents lint from migrating to other areas of the dryer where it could cause mechanical issues in the future.

If your dryer isn't drying your clothes, try emptying the lint trap.

Step 1

Locate the lint trap on your dryer. Kenmore’s stackable dryers usually have lint traps located at the front of the machine inside the dryer door or at the bottom of the machine to the right of the dryer door.

Step 2

Open the lint receptacle. Pull out the lint trap.

Step 3

Pull the lint off the lint trap. Wear gloves for this task if you do not want to touch the lint with your fingers. Throw the lint into the garbage.

Step 4

Rinse the empty lint trap out with soap and water. Dry it well with a paper towel or dish cloth.

Step 5

Return to the dryer. Wipe away any visible lint from inside the empty lint receptacle with a damp paper towel.

Step 6

Push the clean lint trap back into the lint receptacle.
