How to Open a Metal Wind Spinner

Wind spinners are a type of kinetic art that can be hung wherever a breeze may blow. You can find wind spinners hanging from the eaves of a house as well as from a shepherd's crook in a garden. 3-D wind spinners cut from a single sheet of metal and then bent to create the illusion of depth are popular. These items frequently flatten when transported. Reshaping a 3-D wind spinner is simple.

  • Grasp the wind spinner by its central point in your left hand.

  • Grasp the outermost ring of the wind spinner with the fingers of your right hand. Twist the ring on the central axis until it bends at a 45 degree angle.

  • Grasp the ring that is just inside of the outer ring and twist it on the central axis until it bends at a 40 degree angle. Repeat with each ring, working inward. Twist each ring to a slightly smaller angle until the spinner appears to curve rather than lying flat.
