How to Apply Cat Eye Shadow
Ancient Egyptians wore dark kohl liner around their eyes to emulate the cats they worshiped and to protect their eyes from the blistering sun. Movie stars like Angelina Jolie and Elizabeth Taylor have used this classic makeup look known as the "cat eye" for years. You, too, can create this sexy feline look with just a few beauty supplies and a steady hand. The cat eye shadow look is softer than the eyeliner version. This eye makeup pairs nicely with berry red lips and an evening dress or even with a casual outfit. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need

- Skin tone eye shadow
- Long-tipped eye shadow brush
- Black eye shadow
- Flat tipped eyeshadow brush
- Black mascara
Instructions

1
Squirt a tiny drop of eye primer on to the tip of your clean finger. Dab it all over your eyelid and repeat with the opposite eyelid.
-
2
Allow the primer to dry for 30 seconds before moving on to the next step. The eye primer application will cling to the shadow and keep it in place longer.
-
-
3
Swirl the long-tipped eyeshadow brush in skin toned shadow. Apply it to the entire eyelid of both eyes.
-
4
Dampen the tip of the eyeshadow applicator in a little bit of water. Brush the applicator across the black eyeshadow.
-
5
Place your pointer finger over the edge of your outer eye and pull it taut and closed. With the other hand, draw a 3/4-inch line with your damp applicator. The line should begin just before the pupil of the eye and extend past the end of the eye about 1/2 inch. Instead of creating a straight line, draw a curved one by lifting the eye shadow slightly at the end by pulling the flat brush tip up.
-
6
Apply mascara to the upper and lower lashes of both eyes.

Tips & Warnings
Avoid lining underneath the eye, which will take away from your cat eye look.
If making a curved line is too difficult, make short dotted lines and simply blend them together with your flat tipped brush.
