A beer gift basket is a fun idea for a recipient who would like a practical gift -- something he can drink and enjoy. But if you're giving a gift basket to someone to celebrate or commemorate an occasion, you don't want to just hand him a case of beer. That's why it is a thoughtful idea to create a beer arrangement. This makes the gift look attractive and the recipient will feel valued and important. Arranging the beer in the basket like flowers is a playful, tongue-in-cheek way to show you care.
Things You'll Need
- Plastic foam
- Gift tissue
- Gift tag
Place plastic foam into the base of the basket, trimming it with scissors or a craft knife as necessary to provide a snug fit. This foam serves as a support for the weight of the beer bottles and allows the beer to sit higher in the basket for easy viewing.
Fold gift tissue in a decorative manner, such as you would for the top of a gift bag, and stick it in between the plastic foam and the inside walls of the basket. Repeat all the way around, tucking the tissue slightly lower in the front so the beer bottle labels can be easily seen.
Line up the beer bottles across the front of the basket. For the next row, offset it so that the beer bottles are not directly in front of each other. This helps display the brands and labels. Repeat until the basket is filled.
Lay out cellophane on a flat work surface, such as a table or floor. Depending on the width of the cellophane, you may have to overlap the sheets once or twice to create a large enough area. You should be able to lift all sides up above the handle of the basket or the bottles of beer if the basket has no handle and have about 8 to 12 inches excess.
Lift all cellophane up and gather together on top of the handle or beers. Fasten with a rubber band. Use the ribbon to make a nice bow over and around the rubber band. Fluff the cellophane at the top to look festive, straighten the bow and add a gift tag.
Tips & Warnings
- Include a nice pint glass or bottle opener to make the gift more well-rounded. Offer a subscription to a beer of the month club if you feel like splurging.
- Giving a variety of beers makes the gift more fun. If your local store doesn't allow you to mix and match cases, many breweries sell variety packs so that you can taste a variety of their offerings.
- If the basket you're using has a handle, please make sure it's sturdy enough to support the weight of all the beer bottles.
- Do not shake or jostle the gift basket too much in order to avoid exploding the bottles under too much pressure.
