How to Troubleshoot an Avidemux Sync Problem
Avidemux is a free video editor that allows you to cut, filter and encode your video files. It is compatible with several video formats, including AVI, MPEG, MP4 and DVD files. You can use the application to correct audio and video synchronization errors. If you have problems using the application, remove it from your computer and reinstall it from the Avidemux website. Be sure to restart you computer after the installation is complete.

Launch Avidemux by clicking "Start," "All Program" and "Avidemux."

Open the file that you need to fix. Click "File," then "Open," and double-click the file. It may be located on your Desktop, in your "My Documents" folder or in another location. Click the "Location" button at the top of the screen to select where you saved the file.

Press "Shift," and slide the audio/video counter. Click "Play" and adjust the slider again until the audio and video are synchronized as you wish. Save the file by clicking "File," and then "Save."

Reinstall the program if it will not properly sync your file, or if you otherwise have problems using the application. (See Resources.) Remove the program by clicking "Start," then "Control Panel," then "Uninstall a program," and by then double-clicking the program in the list provided. Download the program again by selecting your system version, and clicking "Run." The program will install on its own after you select "Run."

Restart you computer to ensure the installation completed successfully. Press "Start," select the arrow next to "Shut down," and click "Restart."
