Instructions

    • 1

Bring water to a rolling boil in a large pot on your stove-top. Then pour the boiling water directly over the grassy weeds you want to kill. Be careful when pouring the water on grassy weeds that are growing near other plants you wish to keep alive. The boiling water will soak into the ground and immediately kill the roots of the weeds by cooking them.

    • 2

Pour vinegar into a spray bottle and apply the vinegar to the leaves of the grassy weeds you want to kill. Once the vinegar has a chance to absorb into the plants, the acetic acid within the vinegar will kill the weeds by drawing out their water supply. As an alternative method, mix the vinegar with a few drops of dish soap before applying it to the grassy weeds. The soap will increase the vinegar's ability to effectively absorb into the leaves of the weeds it is sprayed on.

Sprinkle a dash of salt at the base of the grassy weeds you want to kill. After it rains, the salt will absorb into the soil underneath the plant and kill it by preventing the weed from absorbing water. As an alternative method, mix 1 cup of salt with 2 cups of boiling water. Then pour the salt water over the grassy weeds you want to kill. As with the boiling water, be careful when pouring the salt water over your weeds if other plants are living nearby.
