How to Hook Up Bridged Mono Amps
Bridging amplifiers involves connecting two amps to increase the power available to speakers. Two mono amplifiers typically are bridged to boost power to a subwoofer speaker for increasing bass response. However, not all mono amplifiers are designed for bridging, so it's imperative to confirm that the amps can be wired for bridging. Both mono amps must be rated equally.

1
Disconnect the negative battery cable from the car battery terminal with pliers or a wrench. The negative cable typically is black.

2
Cut a wire long enough to connect the two mono amps, and strip 1/2 inch of plastic shielding from each end.

-
3
Unscrew the negative terminal on the first amp and the positive terminal on the second amp with a screwdriver. Connect the wire between these two terminals, and tighten with the screwdriver.
-
4
Cut and strip insulation from each end of two additional lengths of speaker wire long enough to run between each amp and the subwoofer.
-
5
Attach one wire from the positive terminal of the first amp to the positive terminal on the subwoofer. The sub-terminal typically is red and may be marked with a "+" sign.
