Instructions

    • 1

Decide on the area where you want to build your cabin. Pick a place that does not have low elevation to avoid the threat of flood issues.

    • 2

Contact the department of construction in your local area. This department provides you with any permits you need to complete the project.

    • 3

Remove any obstructions from the location. For example, greenery or rocks make it hard to build the cabin and need to be removed prior to any construction.

    • 4

Build your cabin's foundation with blocks. These blocks need to sit on gravel so the structure does not sink.

    • 5

Construct your structure's floor joists with the use of wood that measures two-by-eight inches. Then nail the wood into place with a hammer. Place plywood over the joists of the cabin. You need joists for both the ground and roof, which have a distance of about 14 inches from each other.

    • 6

Put your cabin's roof together with the use of lumber. Connect the joist of the roof with shank nails. Put five-by-eight-inch plywood over the joist of the roof. Then insert tar paper on top of the plywood. Use your hammer to secure the roof into position.

    • 7

Nail plywood on top of the outer walls of your cabin. Ensure that the walls that lie on the inner part of the cabin also contain plywood. Nail the frames of your windows to the walls of your cabin with a hammer. Utilize caulk to prevent rain and other elements from entrance into your cabin. Repeat this process for each room of your cabin.
