How to Draw Gray Hair
Technically speaking, drawing gray hair is very similar to drawing any other shade of hair. The amount of pressure you apply to your pencil will control the shade of hair that you wish to create. Silver and gray hair requires very little pressure, which can sometimes cause you to draw faster than usual. This can cause a sloppy finished product, so even though you are using less pressure it's important to concentrate on properly executing the shape and style of the hair as you draw it.

1
Use a sharp pencil to lightly outline the hairstyle's shape over the head in the drawing. The shape of the line should match the shape of the hair accordingly--straight lines for straight hair, wavy lines for waves and coiled lines for tight curls.

2
Fill the inside of the outline with the rest of the hair, using single lines to create the desired texture throughout. For areas on the head that would be highlighted with light, like around the crown, reduce the pressure of the pencil even further.

Stay consistent with the tone of the hair throughout the entire style. If you are having a hard time emphasizing certain features of the hair with the light lines, such as the size and shape of curls, use the side of your pencil to create a shadow around the edge of the curl that is only very slightly darker than the rest of the hair.
