How to Stop a Pop Up Site
A pop up site is a web browser window that opens when you click on a link or visit a website. These windows usually contain unsolicited advertisements, and are often inappropriate or unpleasant. Use the built-in Internet Explorer pop up blocker to stop pop up sites from interfering with your Web browsing.

Click on the "Start" menu, click on "All Programs," then click on "Internet Explorer."

Click on the "Tools" menu located on the top menu bar. Select "Pop-up Blocker" from the drop-down list. Click on "Pop-up Blocker Settings."

Type the full domain name of the website you were surfing when the pop up window appeared into the text box.

Click the "Add" button, then the "Save" button. Internet Explorer will now stop the pop up site.

Tips & Warnings
Third-party software can provide additional protection against bothersome sites.
Some websites, like those of banks, use pop ups for legitimate purposes. Pop up blocking software may block these sites as well.
