Revise worksheets according to what you are teaching within the classroom. If you are teaching grammar try finding amusing sentence structures that adhere to the students preferences such as basketball or dancing, not just punctuation. Ask your students what they think makes a good essay. Or allow them to design worksheets for a writing partner. Asking your students what they would like to learn is also a great way to get them engaged in education. Use their ideas to tailor a worksheet.

Refer to online teaching resources to find ideas through podcasts, movies, workshops and slide presentations. Collaborate with other teachers. If you find yourself stumped halfway through a revision call on a peer to help you finish your worksheet.

Introduce a three-step strategy for peer editing such as the Peer Edit with Perfection tutorial. Free to download, the tutorial provides compliments, suggestions and corrections in response to a sample of student writing. Students can practice these steps in a small group or with a partner and then share with the rest of the class -- after which they move to individual editing guided by a power point tutorial with accompanying worksheet. Begin the peer editing process by clicking on Peer Edit with Perfection. This will prompt a grey download box on your computer, then click open on the left hand corner of the box to begin the tutorial. The tutorial will open to a page that reads: Peer Edit with Perfection Tutorial, and has a picture of a bee with a pencil. Right click on each page to go to the next after following the directions on each page. This activity prepares students to engage in constructive peer editing of classmates, and is an excellent hands-on media tool for any classroom.
