A handmade Mothers Day gift from the kids can be especially meaningful to Mom.

All moms welcome a little help around the house. Days are busy and full. Anything that Dad and the kids can do to make it a little easier for Mom to get something done or to open up some free time would be a precious gift. Most moms adore whatever their children have created with their own hands through the act of love. Instructions

    • 1

Gather the five craft sticks. Using the fine-tip marker, write a meaningful chore on each stick. Make sure the child indicates a chore that is age appropriate and that they can complete. You can include chore responsibility contributions such as "I will make my bed each day", "I will empty the trash", "I will put away my toys," and so forth. By accomplishing this chore, Mom not only receives a welcome helping hand, but your child grows in confidence and enjoys the feeling of responsibility.

Draw several flowers on the colored construction paper. The flower bouquet will be very bright and cheerful if a different color is used for each separate flower. Use your imagination for the flower shapes. Cut the flowers out of the paper. Depending on your child's age, he or she can complete this step using child-safe scissors.

    • 3

Glue one of the construction paper flowers on the top of each craft or Popsicle stick.

    • 4

Put a ball of clay into the bottom of a paper cup. The cup will be your flowerpot.

    • 5

Place the end of each stick opposite the flower in the ball of clay at the bottom of your paper cup flowerpot. Additional clay can be added after putting the sticks in the initial ball of clay if more stability is needed for the pot or sticks.

    • 6

Write a special message or a little poem to Mom on another piece of colorful construction paper. A small drawing done by your child might be a great addition to the flowerpot. Punch a hole in the paper using the hole punch and thread a piece ribbon through it. Make the ribbon long enough to wrap around the pot and tie in a bow. Consider putting a small photo of your child's face in the center of one of the flowers.

    • 7

Make Mom a special breakfast and use your child's very special Chore Flowerpot as the centerpiece on the table or breakfast tray. You and your child have created a Mothers Day gift that Mom will never forget.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make the flowerpots even more colorful by using paper cups with floral prints or use bright, colorful plastic cups.

  • It is recommended that this gift for Mom be made by the children with Dad's supervision.
