I Cannot Change the OE Password

Regularly changing the password on your email account can help to ensure your account remains secure. To use Outlook Express as an email client, you need to enter all of the information for your email account into the application to set it up. Once your email account is configured, you should be able to change the password when necessary. If you are unable to change the password, it means the "Remember Password" check box in the email account's Properties window is unchecked.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Outlook Express and click "Tools" from the main menu bar.

    • 2

Click "Accounts" from the drop-down list and then click the "Mail" tab in the "Internet Accounts" window.

    • 3

Click the email account that is having the password problem in the "Account" column. Click the "Properties" button.

    • 4

Click the "Server" tab and then type the new password in the "Password" box.

    • 5

Click the check box next to "Remember Password." Click the "OK" button and then "Close." Restart Outlook Express and click "Tools." Select "Send and Receive" from the drop-down list to test the password change.
