How to Use Texture Roller Paint Covers
Painting with texture roller paint covers requires the same basic painting techniques as those used with other paint types. The primary differences in the application are the increased time necessary to work the thicker paint onto the surface, and the need to do so without the lapmarks that can develop from the edges of the roller. Using texture roller paint covers correctly can lead to an evenly textured covering that will add character to your wall. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Cover the surfaces adjoining the painting surface with the drop cloth. Use masking tape to secure the cloth and create a clearly defined line bordering the painting surface.
-
2
Paint the corners and edges of the surface using the paintbrush. The roller cannot reach these areas. Keep the brush wet with the textured paint as you evenly stroke the painting surface. Take care not to pool it on the surface and cause the paint to run.

3
Slide the texture roller paint cover over the long, rotating cylinder on the paint roller frame. Pour the textured paint into the roller pan and slowly roll the cover through the paint to apply a solid covering. Because of the thickness of the textured paint, you'll need to have the roller covered nearly to the point where the paint drips from the roller. However, do not over-apply the paint. Shake the roller slightly to ensure that it will not drip upon application.

4
Roll the paint onto the painting surface using long, even strokes of the paint roller. Apply the paint in a single pass of the roller in order to get an even application of the textured paint. Make sure to not leave any area lighter than another. Roll on the paint in horizontal lines, starting at the painted corners so that you blend in the rolled paint with the brushed-on paint. Overlap the paint at the edges of each pass to prevent laplines from occurring. Keep the roller cover wet consistently, by reapplying paint as needed. If the paint should begin to dry on the roller, wipe the paint off completely to keep the texture particles from clumping, then apply more paint.

5
Screw on the extension pole to the end of the paint roller frame to extend your reach with the paint roller. Continue to cover the entire surface with the coat of paint, then allow it to dry according to the paint manufacturer's instructions.
