How to Recycle Flat Glass
Flat glass, also known as sheet glass, refers to large flat sheets of glass used to make windows, doors and tables. Flat glass may not be left out with for recycling other glass objects such as bottles, in most areas. Finding out how to recycle flat glass will take a little research and time. In some areas you may not be able to recycle your glass; however, if it is still in good condition you may be able to donate it.

1
Find the recycling center nearest you. Use websites like Earth911 and The Recycling Center. Enter your city or zip code to find out all the centers in your area.
-
2
Contact the recycling center to see if they process flat glass in their center. Not all recycling centers will be able to recycle flat glass. Flat glass is produced in a different manner from bottles and household glass items. If the recycling center nearest you does not offer flat glass recycling, the staff will be able to give you information on what centers are able to handle the request. They may also suggest donating the glass to a local charity.

3
Arrange for a pickup if offered in your area or take the glass to the recycling center to have the glass recycled.
-
4
Donate the glass to charities such as Habitat for Humanity. Most charities that accept glass will require that the glass not be broken. If the glass originally came from a window or door, donate the glass in the frame. All windows and doors should be in good condition when donating.
