How to Remove a Tire on a Craftsman Lawn Tractor
It is not uncommon to experience a flat tire on a Craftsman lawn tractor. Nails, sticks, and jagged rocks are common culprits that cause flat tires. To repair a flat tire, you may need to remove the tire from the tractor. The tires are fastened to the axle with a retaining ring. Park the lawn tractor on a level surface. Place wheel blocks under all the wheels to prevent the tractor from moving. Put the mower in first gear and set the parking brake.

Raise the lawn tractor with a jack and secure it with jack stands. Remove the axle cover with a screwdriver by popping it off.

Remove the retaining ring with a screwdriver. Pull off the washers with your fingers. On the rear wheels, remove the small square key with pliers.

Pull the wheel toward you and slide it off the axle to remove it.
