How to Completely Erase an iPad Before Selling on Ebay

If you plan to sell your iPad on an online auction site such as eBay, it is necessary to purge the Apple iPad device of all personal settings. Failure to remove your apps, email and settings will leave you vulnerable to identity theft. Fortunately, the Apple iPad device has a procedure for stripping off your personal settings and returning the application to factory standards.

Instructions

1. Power on your Apple iPad by pressing the "Home" button or the "Reset" button. The "Reset" button is located on the top right-hand corner of the screen. The "Home" button is located on the bottom middle portion of the screen, and it is the only circular button on the iPad.

2. Slide your finger across the iPad device to unlock and display your apps.

3. Tap "Settings."

4. Tap "General."

5. Tap "Reset."

6. Tap "Erase All Content and Settings." You are prompted by a message asking for your confirmation to erase your settings.

7. Tap "Erase" to erase all settings. The Apple logo appears as well as a progress bar that shows you how far you are through the process. Erasing all of the settings on your iPad device may take up to several hours.
