How to Add Privacy Film to Your Patio Doors
A glass door leading to a patio lets you easily enter and exit your home and brings outdoor light inside. To provide privacy from intruding eyes, add a privacy film to the patio door. Privacy film comes in a variety of intensities -- from partial to full opaqueness -- with designs duplicating the effect of frosted and stained glass, among others.You can purchase privacy film at hardware stores and home and garden shops, and at the size needed -- no cutting on your part is necessary. Spray the inside of the glass patio door with glass cleaning spray. Wipe the door with newspaper, starting at the upper left corner and pushing the newspaper across to the right corner and then back again. Repeat this procedure until you reach the bottom right corner of the door.

Wipe the door again in the same manner as you just did, this time with a dry, soft cloth. Open the door and wipe the edges of the door with the soft cloth before closing it again.

Place the privacy film face down on the floor. Remove the paper backing from the film. Hold the film vertically with the sticky side facing away from you.

Place the top left edge of the film against the top left edge of the patio door. Press down on the edge of the film. Push the top edge of the film along the length of the top edge of the door until you reach the door's right side. Press down on the edge of the film that is against the right edge of the door.

Push the sticky side of the film against the patio door as you pull it down the length of the door. Stop pulling the film when you reach the bottom of the door.

Press the edge of a plastic spatula against the top left edge of the door. Push the spatula down the length of the door to remove any air bubbles in the film. Repeat this procedure across the length of the door.
