1
Choose a paint color for the walls and trim. Select colors that are associated with the beach such as ultra white, pale blues, sandy tans or a combination of the three. Browse through the paint sample cards in the paint department of an area store for more ideas of paint combinations.
-
2
Paint the walls and trim with the colors chosen. Use rollers for the walls and a small brush for the trim. Paint the ceiling with white ceiling paint to keep with the fresh, bright paint scheme. Use a roller with a long handle attachment for the ceiling.

3
Add furniture to the room. Visit local thrift stores or flea markets and purchase furniture that will match based on your preference and style while keeping your beach theme in mind. Wicker or bamboo are a good choice if you like that type of furniture. If a regular sofa is what you desire, choose one in a plain style with a light-color fabric in white, blue, yellow or green.

4
Decorate the room. Choose photo and print frames that are the same color and style. Paint old frames the same color as the trim of the room instead of buying new ones to match. Place seashells on side tables and inside a clear glass vase with some sand at the bottom. Place the vase on a table or on a window sill.

5
Hang curtains that match the main color of the room, or go with simple sheer curtains. Choose curtains that will allow the room plenty of light to enter, even when they are closed.
-
6
Remove any unnecessary items from the room. Beach-themed rooms should be simple and elegant, in keeping with the open, bare and peaceful nature of beaches. Add a small stereo to the room to play soft music while you relax but keep the television and video game console out of the room.
