How to Color the Inside Layer of Your Hair
Experimenting with a new hair color can change your entire look, and with at-home color kits, it's possible to achieve a brand-new hair style cost-effectively and with minimal effort. One trendy hair color technique is adding dimension by using two different colors. This look can be done by dying the bottom layer of your hair in a shade that contrasts with the top. Typically the bottom shade is the darkest, but the choice is up to you. Avoid using two completely different colors and stay within the same color family for the most professional and natural results. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Dry your hair and free it of tangles. Use a comb to separate the bottom and top halves of your hair, making a horizontal part across the back of your head that is even with the tops of your ears.
-
2
Secure the top portion of your hair on top of your head with a hair clip or similar item, ensuring that all strands are away from the bottom half.
-
-
3
Put on the plastic gloves that are included with your hair color kit. Mix the color according to the manufacturer's instructions.
-
4
Place an old towel around your shoulders to protect your clothing in case the hair color drips.
-
5
Apply the hair color to the bottom section of your hair, ensuring all strands are completely coated with the mixture.
-
6
Leave the color on your hair for the amount of time recommended in the hair color instructions. Wipe any excess color off your skin.
-
7
Rinse the color from your hair completely, until the water runs clear. At this point it is safe to take down the top half of your hair. Apply the conditioner that was included with your color kit, if applicable, and rinse completely from hair.
