Instructions to Make Monogrammed Badge Reels

There are a variety of alphabet stickers to make your monogrammed badge reel fun.

Many businesses require identification badges to enter their buildings. These ID badges usually are attached to a bland, solid colored retractable reel. Keeping the ID badge on a retractable badge reel saves the employee from losing their badge due to falling out of their pockets as the reel attaches to the badge and the employee's jacket, pocket, or anywhere else on his clothing. Make a monogrammed badge reel to bring a bit of your personality to your identity badge.

Things You'll Need

• Badge reel
• Glue
• Decoupage medium
• Sponge paintbrush
• Alphabet letter
• Stickers
• Scissors
• Crepe paper

Instructions

1. 

   Be creative with your monogrammed badge reel's decoration.

   Clean the badge reel to ensure nothing is on the surface you wish to monogram. Any company stickers or glue residue can make the new monogram bumpy or look messy.

2. Decide how you want your badge to look when you are done. Cut out a circle of the crepe paper that will fit inside the edges of the badge reel. Set the chosen letter in the middle of the crepe-paper circle.

3. Place the stickers with which you wish to decorate your letter around the letter in the exact place you desire. Arrange and rearrange until you find exactly what you want on your badge.

4. Place your alphabet letter and stickers onto the crepe in the same order in which you had them arranged by removing the protective stickers on the backs and sticking them to the paper. Glue the paper to the reel, the letter should be centered and facing the correct direction.

5. Paint the alphabet letter and stickers with the decoupage medium lightly with the sponge brush making sure to cover the entire front of the badge reel. Let it sit for a minute, then add another layer of decoupage medium. This seals your stickers to your reel and completes your monogrammed badge reel.

Tips & Warnings

• You can decorate the badge reel with any flat item including buttons, crests and pictures.

• Brush the decoupage medium, don't blot it. Blotting will leave bubbles and make it look sloppy.

• Be careful with the decoupage medium around the retractable wire. Decoupage medium is a strong adhesive that will destroy the reel if it gets inside.
