How to Make Beaded Bolo Ties
The bolo tie, a type of necktie consisting of braided cord and a bar or clasp, has been around since the 1940s, but it wasn't until the 1970s that this men's fashion accessory became popular. Worn most often by cowboys and men who enjoy the western trends, the bolo tile is versatile and can be made quite easily at home. By choosing the color of cord and thousands of possibilities for the focal point of the bolo tile, you can make each one unique.

1
Glue the slider object (stone, pendant, belt buckle or other object) to the bolo slide with jewelry glue or two-part epoxy. Put aside for about 30 minutes to dry.
-
2
Cut about 40 inches of braided cord. Slide the cord through the two bends of the bolo slide. Using your pliers, tighten the bends until they fit snugly around the cord.

3
Flip the tie over so that the slider object is facing down. String your beads onto both ends of the cord in any pattern you like.
-
4
Make an overhand knot on the end of each cord. Apply a little glue to the inside of the bolo clips, then insert the knotted cords into the bolo clips. Let the glue dry for at least 30 minutes before using.
