How to Make Secure Audio Books on Mac

How to Make Secure Audio Books on Mac thumbnail
Restrict user access on your audio books to prevent unauthorized changes.

Audio book ripping from a CD to your Macintosh computer leaves the book's tracks open to editing, as the chapters of the audio book are not protected by the Digital Rights Management. The lock feature in the audio book's file enables you to restrict the file, which changes the user access properties from read and write to read only. When in read, only mode users can view the file but cannot make any changes without first disabling the unlock feature.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the audio book file in Finder by clicking the Home icon in the Finder's side menu.

    • 2

Double-click the Music folder and double-click the iTunes Music folder.

    • 3

Double-click the Audiobooks folders and right-click the audiobook file. Click "Get Info."

    • 4

Click "Locked", and scroll to "Sharing & Permissions." Click "Read Only" for the alternate users in the Name column.

    • 5

Exit the audiobook preferences window to save the changes.
