Using a sewing machine can be a challenge because fabrics slide and shift during construction. Pfaff sewing and embroidery machines are the only sewing machines to successfully market a unique and patented Integrated Dual Transportation system (IDT). The IDT is a dual-feed dog tool built into the sewing machine at the sewing foot level. IDT allows even feed of fabric no matter how delicate or thick the fabric is. The system can be disengaged for special sewing feet such as the embroidery or knit edge foot. You get perfect seams every time you sew no matter the project.

  • Pfaff embroidery sewing machine
  • Sewing machine needles: One for fine fabrics and one for leather or denim.

Instructions

  1. Perfect Seams Everytime

    • 1

Turn the power switch to on. It's located on the side of the machine or, in some models, on the back of the machine. Put the thread spool in the thread holder. Raise the presser foot, and raise the tension discs to their highest position.

    • 2

Thread the machine from left to right.Stop at the needle. Lower the presser foot. Thread the needle. Note that in the Pfaff sewing brand you do not thread from right to left.

    • 3

Set the tension to two-and-a-half. On the left side of the machine, there is a tension dial. In sewing-embroidery models, sometimes the tension numbers are electronic. They can be found on the LCD screen. Refer to your user's manual for exact location.

    • 4

Raise presser foot, plug in foot pedal. Insert delicate fabric under the presser foot. Lower feed dogs and engage IDT. It's the black lever located directly behind the presser foot. Lower presser foot.

    • 5

Choose straight stitch. Stitch a straight line. Check for tension problems. A bird's nest under the fabric means there's tension in the top thread feed, and a bird's nest on the top of the fabric means there's tension in the bobbin. Refer to your user's manual for troubleshooting these.

    • 6

Un-thread needle, replace needle with the denim or leather needle. Re-thread machine, and insert denim or leather fabric under the presser foot. Re-engage IDT, choose zigzag stitch, and sew. Check for tension problems and refer to users manual for solutions.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use pre-wound cotton or poly bobbin thread for machine embroidery.

  • Pfaff machines do not take well to cheap thread. Purchase your thread from a reputable source.

  • Do not use generic feet for the 9mm stitches

  • Main Motor Block Message means there is a thread jam somewhere in the machine. Check thread tension discs, bobbin case, feed dogs, and re-thread machine.

  • Do not attempt to use specialty feet with the IDT engaged unless specified. It will damage your machine.
