How to Stop Lag in Pinnacle
Pinnacle Studio is a computer program that lets you edit your videos. You can edit a series of clips into one long movie, add music to a clip, delete segments of a clip and more. If the playback function of Pinnacle is experiencing lag and slowdown, this is likely due to a few common issues that video editing programs have with your computer and with the Windows operating system.

1
Render all of the effects that you've included in your editing project. Use the "Render" command in the Pinnacle Studio menu to do this. Before you properly render all of your effects, you will naturally experience some lag during video playback because Pinnacle Studio will come across effects that it doesn't understand how to play.

2
Shut down all other programs on your computer. Video editing is system resource intensive, and using Pinnacle Studio is no different. That is why most professional production houses have computers solely dedicated to video editing. All other open programs on your computer are drawing resources away from Pinnacle Studio. Close them and attempt to playback your video again.

Download any available updates for your version of Pinnacle Studio from Pinnacle's website. (See Resources.) Pinnacle Systems continually releases updates for Pinnacle Studio throughout the year. These updates can improve the program's compatibility with your operating system, which in turn will reduce lag simply by having your program up-to-date.
