  • 1/8-inch drill bit
  • Drill
  • Awning fabric
  • Metal file

Instructions

    • 1

      Mark the position of the cam handle on the awning tube with a marker. Drill out the rivets with a 1/8-inch drill bit. Remove the end cap/torsion assembly.

      Lift the awning tube at each end. Unroll the awning fabric by hand by turning the awning tube until all of the fabric is unrolled. Mark the awning tube with a marker so you know where to insert the new fabric. Slide the fabric off of the tube.

      File down any sharp edges on the awning tube. Use a screwdriver to slightly open the end of the awning rail.

      Slide the new awning fabric into the awning tube, sliding gently to prevent tearing the fabric. Center the fabric on the tube. Tuck in the cord ends into the awning tube.

      Reinstall the torsion assembly. Line it up with the marks you made when removing it. Replace the rivets to secure assembly.

  • Changing a trailer awning is easier with two or three adults.
