How to Use Alcohol to Clean an Old Camera

Old cameras can be fun to collect or even use to take pictures that have an old feel. As with your new cameras, you should take proper care to keep your old cameras clean. When you procure an old camera for the first time, it may be dirty from both age and use. The advantage of cleaning an old camera with alcohol is that alcohol evaporates quickly and will not lay stagnant on camera parts.

Things You'll Need

• Non-scratch rag
• Alcohol

Instructions

1. Dip the non-scratch rag in alcohol.

2. Identify dirty spots on the old camera.

3. Rub the non-scratch rag in a circular motion on the soiled area until the area is clean.

4. Switch to a clean spot on the rag when the spot you are using becomes soiled.

Tips & Warnings

• Never attempt to clean the inside of a camera lens.

• Only use alcohol cleaning methods on hand-gripped sections of cameras.
