DIY Take Apart a Rainbow E-Series Vacuum
Rainbow vacuums collect dirt and debris inside a water basin instead of the traditional canister or vacuum bag. Rainbow suggests that users store the E-Series unit disassembled to prevent foul odors and growth of bacteria in the basin. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

1
Unplug the vacuum and wind up the cord around the top power unit.
-
2
Disconnect the wand and any hose attachments from the vacuum. Place the attachments on the vacuum's caddy. Remove the hose from the power unit by pressing both buttons on the hose. Store the hose.

-
3
Release the locking mechanisms on either side of the power unit, and lift the power unit straight up from the water basin.
-
4
Remove the "separator" piece--a circular shaped ring found on the bottom under-side of the power unit--after each use by unscrewing the nut that keeps it in place. Remove any debris from the ring using the cleaning tool, also attached to the bottom for the power unit. Replace the separator using the nut. Store the power unit near the hose.

5
Drain the water from the basin into a sink or outside in the yard. Remove the remaining gunk in the basin by hand, and throw it away in the trash. Rinse and drain the basin to remove any dirt particles and dry the basin with a towel.
Store the dry water basin next to the power unit--not on top.

Clean the HEPA filters about every 24 to 36 months. Press the two latches on the bottom of the power unit to remove the panel. Pull the filter up and out towards you. Rinse under cold water, and shake it back and forth to eliminate excess water. Dry the filter with a towel, and place it back in the vacuum. Run the vacuum with an empty water basin for about 30 minutes to completely dry the filter.

Tips & Warnings
If the separator ring on the E-Series Rainbow vacuum is not properly attached the vacuum may discharge water droplets or dust, and sound louder then normal. Remove the separator, clean and replace before vacuuming again.
