How to Cut Designs in Gold Foil for Use With Fused Glass

Gold foil can be fused on top of glass or in between glass. Gold adds pizazz and sparkle to fused glass. You can find examples of glass decorated with gold in museums throughout the world. Gold is often added to glass to denote power and wealth as well as to enhance the beauty of both ceremonial and everyday glass items.

Things You'll Need

• Scissors or a craft knife
• Craft punch

Instructions

1. Sketch the design for your use of gold on fused glass. Gold is quite expensive, so consider the cost of the design when sketching and planning.

2. Draw your design onto the pieces of gold.

3. Use scissors or a craft knife to cut out the design. Alternatively, you can use paper craft punches to cut out gold designs for fused glass.

4. Check the gold. Use scissors or a craft knife to perfect the cutout gold design.
