Things You'll Need:

- Running Clothes
- Running Shoes
- Black Teas
- Vaseline

- Antiperpirants
- Foot Powders
- Adhesive Bandages
-
Step 1
Wear properly fitted shoes.
-
Step 2
Keep feet dry if possible, taking care if you pour water over your head in a warm-weather race.
-
Step 3
Wear polyester or acrylic socks, as opposed to cotton or wool. Special blister-proof running socks are worth experimenting with.
-
Step 4
Experiment with petroleum jelly or foot powders. These often help prevent blistering.
-
Step 5
Use bandage strips or blister block adhesive tape. Special sports products are now widely marketed.
-
Step 6
Try antiperspirant. One study showed that after spraying it on feet for several days, use of antiperspirant helped prevent blisters.
-
Step 7
Try a foot soak to help prevent blisters. Use two bags of black tea (not herbal) for each quart of water. Soak feet once to twice a week for 5 minutes, twice per day.

on 9/12/2008 I used to get blisters all time when I ran. I found these great seamless socks online that don't rub when I run. I'm finally blister free. They're great! I think the website is http://www.therawear.com/running__socks.html Check them out, they really help.

on 7/13/2006 Deodorant works just as well as Body Glide and it's cheaper. Although if you're looking for antiperspirant, blister prevention, and sunscreen, Body Glide is the way to go.

on 11/22/2005 I had red scars on my chest and back from my sports bras. So I started wearing 2 at a time, which decreased the total amount of shifting of fabric on my skin. I have not had a problem since!

on 11/22/2005 In addition to petroleum jelly, a non-petroleum-based sports item called Body Glide works well.
