How to Replace a PC100 With PC133
If you are someone who owns an older computer that you want to restore or upgrade, one of the areas you will likely look at is RAM. Many older PCs use PC100 RAM, which is RAM that operates on a clock speed of 100MHz. If you are looking to replace the PC100 RAM with PC133 RAM, which runs at a speed of 133MHz, you will find that in most cases the process of replacing one with another is a relatively simple and quick process.
Instructions
-
-
1
Power off your PC and disconnect the power cable from the wall. This is done primarily for safety purposes.
-
2
Open your PC case by removing the side panel. This can be done by either sliding the side panel to the rear until it pops off or by removing the screws holding the panel in place.
-
-
3
Press down on the snaps holding your RAM in place. The RAM is located next to your square CPU socket, which will likely be identifiable by the large heat sink.
-
4
Lift the PC100 RAM out of the slot and place to the side.
-
5
Insert your PC133 RAM into the RAM slot. Make sure that the notches are aligned, otherwise the RAM will not slide into place.
-
6
Close your PC tower and plug your PC back into your wall to finish the swap.
