Repurpose a jug to display jewelry.

There are many ways to use an acrylic countertop to display your jewelry; these vary depending on the kind of jewelry you are displaying. When you are displaying necklaces or long earrings, you want to show off their whole length. You need a smaller display for rings, bracelets and small earrings. You can display your jewelry on top of the counter or inside the display case.

  • Branches
  • Vase or jug
  • Spray paint

Instructions

  1. Jug and Branch Countertop Display

    • 1

Re-purpose or buy a jug or vase.

    • 2

Find or buy branches, preferably with visually interesting twists.

    • 3

Spray paint the branches, if desired. Place newspaper on the floor or a craft table.

    • 4

Spray paint the branches on one side.

    • 5

Turn the branches over and spray paint the other side. Let dry.

    • 6

Place the branches in the vase or jug. Hang necklaces and long earrings from the branches.

Box or Tray Countertop or Under Counter Display

    • 7

Re-purpose or buy trays or shallow boxes. Find a size that will fit many of your rings face up. Smaller boxes can be used for small earrings, and deeper ones for bracelets.

    • 8

Place your tray on the foam and mark all the way around the tray. Be careful not to mark the tray.

    • 9

Cut the foam along your markings with the scissors or craft knife.

    • 10

Place the foam in the tray. You want it to be snug enough to hold your jewelry upright, but not so snug that it buckles. If it's a little tight, cut a bit of the foam off.

    • 11

Place your rings face up on top of the foam. If you are going to display bracelets, stand them on their edges. If you are going to display earrings, lie them on the foam. Mark out about how much space you would like between your pieces.

    • 12

Cut along your lines with your craft knife, about half way down the foam. Be careful not to cut all the way through the foam or you will have to reassemble the pieces.

    • 13

Fold your fabric in half to find the middle. Use an opaque fabric as the foam will show through anything sheer.

    • 14

Place the middle of your fabric in the middle cut you made in the foam. Tuck the fabric in each cut, making sure to leave enough play so you will be able to slide your jewelry in the slots.

    • 15

Tuck in the edges of the fabric with a ruler. Place your jewelry in the slots, rings face up.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a high density foam for the box or tray display. If you use a softer foam, it might not be sturdy enough to support your jewelry.

  • Use spray paint in a well ventilated area.
