How to Store Deer Jerky
For those who like deer jerky, making your own is even tastier. Drying and storing it properly is a key point in making flavorful treats the family can enjoy. They can be enjoyed in bag lunches, after-school snacks or something to nibble on family game night or TV football night. Keep larger amounts in the freezer, and only move what you need for the week to the refrigerator. No special precautions need to be taken, and no preservatives need to be added. Store the jerky in airtight containers such as zip-lock bags or plastic freezer containers. You should place the jerky between sheets of waxed or freezer paper in the container.

Put smaller serving-size portions in sandwich or snack-size zip-lock bags. Keep them in the refrigerator for convenience. Keep jerkey in the refrigerator only for two to three weeks.

Place larger-size bags or tubs of deer jerky in the freezer. They should be kept frozen for no longer than nine months to one year, the same as any other frozen food.
