How to Find Out Last Year's State Tax Return Amount in Utah
It is necessary to discover your previous year's adjusted gross income (AGI) when filing your current year's return. The state of Utah might require you to enter your AGI to verify your identity when filing your taxes electronically. To obtain the previous year's AGI, you can contact the Utah State Tax Commission by phone or request a copy of the tax return in person or by mail.

Contact the Utah State Tax Commission by calling (801) 297-2200 or (800) 662-4335.

Address the reason for your call and allow the representative to transfer you to the correct department.

Prove your identity by answering a series of questions. The questions might include your previous address, employer and credit account information. If you can prove your identity, the representative might give you the information over the phone.

Go to the Utah State Tax Commission office and request a copy of the previous year's tax return. The office is located at 210 North 1950 West, in Salt Lake City.

Complete Form TC-880, Request for Tax Records, and include your Social Security number. If you filed a joint return, you must also provide your spouse's Social Security number.

Pay the searching and printing fee. As of January 2011, the fee to obtain a previous year's tax return is $6.50 per copy.

If you are requesting a copy of another person's income tax return, you must provide a power-of-attorney consent letter. The taxpayer must sign this form and the signature will be verified. Complete Form TC-737, Power of Attorney and Declaration of Representation.
In-person requests are completed within 24 hours.
Mailed requests take up to two weeks to complete.
