How to Make Unscented Lotion
Creating your own unscented lotion is more economical than purchasing a similar commercial product. In addition, you have complete control over the ingredients, so you can use organic materials and avoid the use of preservatives. Handmade unscented lotion can also make a versatile gift because it is appropriate not only for men and women, but for babies and children as well. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Double boiler
- ¼ cup pure spring water
- 2 tbsp. grated beeswax
- ½ cup organic coconut oil
- ¼ cup pure organic honey
- Medium to large mixing bowl
- Wire whisk
- 1 tsp. vitamin E oil
- Small jars or bottles with lids
- Large spoon
- Funnel

Place the double boiler over medium heat. Boil the water, then add the grated beeswax. Stir the beeswax and when it has completely melted, mix in the coconut oil and the honey. Coconut oil has no scent, so it makes an ideal base for your unscented lotion.

Combine the mixture by stirring it with the wire whisk. When it is smoothly mixed, remove it from the stove and pour the concoction into your mixing bowl.

Beat the hot mixture in the mixing bowl with the wire whisk until it cools down. Add the vitamin E oil and continue mixing, until it cools. It will thicken.

Wash the small bottles in warm, soapy water and rinse them with hot water. Pour the lotion into the bottles using the large spoon and the funnel. Attach the lids. Your lotion is now finished and ready for you to use.

Cleanliness is important when preparing lotions with natural ingredients. Make sure to have a clean workspace, use only clean utensils and wash the bottles well.
