How to Connect a Vacuum Hose
Connecting a hose to vacuum may refer to connecting the extension hose into a house vacuum's main suction hole for the first time or removing a damaged power nozzle hose in an upright vacuum and connecting a replacement hose. In the second example, connecting a replacement hose depends entirely on the vacuum brand and model as the way to remove the hose varies by vacuum. While the extension hose on all vacuums usually connects securely in place in one of two ways -- via a threaded connector twist-lock design or a button or latch lock design. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

Extension Hose
-
1

Lock the hose in place. If your vacuum has a threaded end, simply turn it right or left until you can't turn it or pull it out of the connector. If your vacuum has a button or latch near the end of the hose, push the hose in until you feel or hear it lock into place or twist it right or left until you feel or hear it lock in place.

6
Remove the power nozzle hose. Usually this involves simply twisting the hose off where it connects to the vacuum.

Tips & Warnings
If you need to connect a hose to a pool vacuum instead of a house vacuum, wet the threaded connectors on the hose ends and push one end into the other. You may or may not need to twist the ends in opposite directions to secure the hose. If one of the hose ends has a cuff, slide the cuff over the connection point and twist the cuff to lock the hoses together.
Never force the ends of a power nozzle hose in place as doing so may crack or split the hose.
