How to Add Beaded Fringe to a T Shirt

Adding beaded fringe to an old T-shirt is a great way to recycle and live green.

Before throwing out that old T-shirt you have hanging around, try giving it a new splash of color and style by adding beaded fringe. From bright over-sized beads to small shiny beads, a rainbow of colors can be used. People of all ages can create one-of-a-kind pieces and show off their creative style every time they wear it.

Things You'll Need

• T-shirt
• Scissors
• Variety of beads

Instructions

1. Cut the bottom hem completely off of the T-shirt.

2. Starting at one side of the T-shirt, make a 3-inch cut from the bottom towards the top. Continue to cut 3-inch vertical cuts every 1/2 inch all the way around the T-shirt.

3. Slip one or more beads onto each cut piece of material. Tie a large knot at the end of each fringe so that the beads do not slide off.

4. Continue to add beads and tie knots on each fringe until the entire T-shirt is complete.

Tips & Warnings

• Beaded fringe can also be added to each sleeve by following the same steps.
